Mark Zuckerberg lamented the rise of “culturally neutered” companies that have sought to distance themselves from “masculine energy.” In a recent conversation with podcaster Joe Rogan, Zuckerberg expressed his view that a culture that “celebrates the aggression a bit more” is beneficial.

Zuckerberg, who grew up with three sisters and has three daughters, emphasized his desire for women to succeed in corporations. He believes that many companies have become too masculine and need to be more inclusive to attract and retain diverse talent. “If you’re a woman going into a company, it probably feels like it’s too masculine. It’s — there isn’t enough of the energy that you may naturally have,” he said.

Zuckerberg’s comments come at a time when Meta, his company, is facing scrutiny over its content moderation policies. Just days ago, Meta relaxed its policies to allow more leniency for users criticizing immigrants, transgender and nonbinary people, or making exclusionary statements based on someone’s sex or gender. Additionally, Meta announced the end of third-party fact-checking in the US and is halting many of its internal training and hiring efforts aimed at making its workforce more diverse.

In the Rogan interview, Zuckerberg also criticized the Biden administration, claiming that White House officials would “scream” and “curse” at Meta employees amid discussions about how to moderate content related to Covid-19 during the pandemic. He previously wrote about these complaints in a letter to Congress in August.

Zuckerberg expressed optimism about Trump’s potential return to the White House, stating, “I think he just wants America to win.” In contrast, President Joe Biden expressed dismay over Meta’s decision, calling it “completely contrary to everything America is about.”
