WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – President-elect Donald Trump announced Karoline Leavitt will return to the White House next year as his press secretary, making her the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history.
Leavitt, 27, has been a fierce defender of Trump throughout his campaign, including his hard-fought battle against Vice President Kamala Harris. She has been a prominent figure in the Trump campaign, serving as national press secretary and riding across the nation to rally support for the former president.
Trump praised Leavitt, saying, “Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium and help deliver our message to the American people as we Make America Great Again.”
Leavitt’s appointment comes after a successful congressional run in 2022, where she won her primary but lost the election to a Democrat. She previously served as assistant press secretary in Trump’s first administration and later worked as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik.
Leavitt’s new role will make her the youngest person to hold the position, surpassing President Richard Nixon’s press secretary, Ron Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the position in 1969.
The Trump administration has faced legal and political challenges, including two assassination attempts and attacks from the Harris campaign. Leavitt has been a vocal defender of Trump, fielding media inquiries and addressing the president’s policies and vision for the United States.
In her new role, Leavitt will be responsible for representing the administration and delivering the president’s message to the American people. She has already demonstrated her abilities in the role, serving as the Trump campaign’s national press secretary and helping to secure the president’s victory in the 2024 election.
Leavitt’s appointment is seen as a significant win for Trump, who has been criticized for his handling of the presidency. Her youth and experience make her an attractive candidate for the position, and her loyalty to Trump has been unwavering throughout his campaign and administration.
