A woman was arrested late Saturday morning for attempting to climb a temporary fence installed outside the White House ahead of next month’s inauguration. The U.S. Secret Service stated that she was “quickly taken into custody” and charged with unlawful entry. She was taken to the DC Metro Police Department’s 2nd District for processing.

The incident occurred while President Biden was at the White House, but the woman failed to breach the fence and did not impact the President or any other protectees. This is not the first time someone has attempted to breach the White House fence; in fact, a man was arrested in 2017 after claiming to have an appointment with then-President Trump.

In 2014, a knife-wielding man managed to jump a fence and enter the East Room of the White House during former President Obama’s administration. The Secret Service continues to take measures to ensure the security of the White House and its occupants.
