Wisconsin school shooter may have had an exact target, former FBI agent says
A former FBI agent specializing in domestic terrorism says that the recent shooting at a Wisconsin elementary school may have been an attack on a specific target rather than a random act of violence.
The shooter, a 25-year-old man, opened fire at the Fond du Lac school on Friday, injuring five people and killing a teacher. Authorities have identified the victims, but have not released the names of those injured or the teacher who was killed.
According to the FBI, the shooter was motivated by a grudge against the school and its administration. The agent, who has asked not to be named, believes that the shooter may have had an exact target in mind when he entered the school.
“I think we’re dealing with a case of someone who had a specific motivation, a specific target,” the agent said. “This wasn’t just a random act of violence. The shooter knew what he was looking for, and he went after it.”
The agent said that the investigation is still in its early stages, but that they have already found evidence suggesting that the shooter had planned the attack carefully.
“We’ve found a number of items that suggest the shooter had planned this out in advance,” the agent said. “We’re looking at a range of potential motives, but at this point, we’re focused on gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.”
The agent emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and that the motive behind the shooting is still unclear.
