A Shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Wisconsin Leaves at Least Three Dead, Six Injured
A shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, has left at least three people dead, including the suspected gunman, and six others injured. The incident occurred on Monday morning, around 10:57 am, when police responded to reports of an active shooter at the K-12 Christian school.
Madison Chief Shon Barnes said that the suspected shooter, a juvenile who was a student at the school, was found dead when police arrived on the scene. The incident has left the community in shock, with police disclosing that nine people were injured, including the three deceased.
The shooting was reportedly contained to the school, with police not firing their weapons. Instead, they rendered aid to the injured victims. The victims’ injuries range from non-life-threatening to life-threatening.
Abundant Life Christian School, which serves around 200 families from 56 different churches, released a statement requesting prayers for the community. The school’s website lists 390 students enrolled and has a 28-acre campus.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has also issued a statement, saying that his office is closely monitoring the incident and praying for the school community. The event comes just two days after the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, where 20 children and six adults were killed in a mass shooting in 2012.
The incident is still being investigated, with police working to determine the motive behind the shooting.
