Washington Post Columnist Slams Media for Trying to Appeal to Trump Voters
Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin criticized media outlets, including her own paper, for trying to appeal to Trump voters after the 2024 election. At an event with anti-Trump critic George Conway, Rubin argued that the media is trying to “move a little bit to the right” in an attempt to attract more readers, but claims this will never work.
Rubin, who has frequently criticized the Washington Post and its owner Jeff Bezos for trying to become more politically neutral, claimed that the paper is trying to appeal to Trump voters in an attempt to increase readership. She joked that she can “be a rebel in my own house” and continue to criticize the paper from within.
Rubin also attacked Bezos for the Washington Post’s decision not to endorse a presidential candidate in 2024, claiming that it was a sign of the paper “bending the knee” to Trump. She blamed Bezos for the decision and claimed that it was a bad move for democracy.
In addition to criticizing her own paper, Rubin also attacked MSNBC, where she works as a contributor, for its handling of the 2024 election. She was critical of the network’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts for meeting with Trump after the election, calling it an “apalling example” of elites trying to curry favor with the White House.
