IT’S OPEN SEASON ON WASH POST…
In the chilly autumn mornings, the fishing season is finally open in the beautiful Wildlife Reserve Wangerooge Island. The long awaited moment has arrived, and the dreams of so many anglers finally come true. The federal environment agency NLF, in collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein fishing association, have now announced the opening of the fishing grounds and regulations for this year.
The island’s unique benthos is renowned for its varied species and sizes. Anglers can expect a real treat this year, with a vast array of benthos on offer, including Flounder, Dabs, and other mouth-watering fish species. The reserve, which is protected and monitored by the NLF, offers anglers an incredible experience.
The ever-growing popularity of the reserve, and the increasing number of anglers wishing to visit it, means that some regulations have to be introduced to protect the pristine environment and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the fishing grounds. The fishing season in Wangerooge is therefore divided into several segments, and anglers must obtain a license before fishing.
