Video captures suspect moments before murder of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson.

A surveillance video released by the Denver Police Department appears to show a person of interest lingering in the vicinity of the location where UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot on August 8.

The grainy footage, which was taken from a camera mounted on a building across the street from the location where the shooting took place, shows a person in a black hoodie and backpack walking slowly by the area around 6:30 p.m. on the day of the shooting. The person can be seen looking around the area and glancing up and down the street before walking away.

At one point, the person stops and looks back in the direction of the shooting location, but their face is not visible on camera. The video does not provide a clear view of the person’s face, but investigators are urging anyone with information about the person to come forward.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on August 8. They said Thompson, 63, was found lying on the sidewalk with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“We are urging anyone who recognizes this person or has any information about the suspect or the shooting to contact us immediately,” said Denver Police Chief Punit Singh Ghayal. “We are working to identify this individual and bring them to justice for the senseless act that took the life of an innocent man.”
