Dwayne Johnson’s recent movie, Red One, a holiday action comedy, has become the subject of scrutiny on the internet. While the movie enjoyed a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and was a relatively successful streaming hit, VFX experts from the Corridor Crew have dissected the film’s CGI, deeming it unsatisfactory and heavy-handed. The experts specifically pointed out problems with the depiction of physical danger in an action sequence, heavy use of digital rocks, and green screen gone wrong.

Critics have weighed in on Red One, describing the movie’s CGI as “a major problem” and identifying several other areas of concern. While the critics’ scores reflect the movie’s flaws, they acknowledge that audiences did not agree, with Red One receiving an audience score of 90%.

Red One premiered on Prime Video, becoming the most-watched movie premiere on the platform, with over 5,000 verified ratings contributing to its average score of 4.4 out of 10. Whether the movie’s CGI had detracted from critical reception remains open to debate; however, Red One’s 30% critics’ score serves as a contrast to its popularity with audiences.
