Brian Urlacher, a former NFL linebacker, has thrown his support behind Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ foray into politics. The 44th State Assembly in Wisconsin is currently holding a special election to select a new representative, and Rodgers, a longtime Packers fan favorite, announced his candidacy in October.
Urlacher, who played 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears, has expressed his admiration for Rodgers’ willingness to listen to people and “stand up for the smaller guy.” According to Urlacher, this quality is essential in public service and politics, saying, “I think it’s great, because he’s going to stand up for the small guy. He’s going to listen to them and he’s going to make sure they’re heard, and that’s what needs to happen in our government. We need people in there who care about the everyday people, and I think Aaron can do that.”
