NFL Legend Eric Dickerson Discusses Saquon Barkley’s Chase for 2,000-Yard Mark
Eight backs have achieved the prestigious 2,000-yard milestone, with none other than Dickerson himself holding the record with 2,105 yards. When asked about Saquon Barkley’s pursuit of the mark, Dickerson expressed his admiration for the player’s skills, stating that he’s a “great player” with a unique combination of elusiveness, toughness, and receiving abilities.
However, Dickerson notes that Barkley’s size may be a limitation, as he’s not a big back like Dickerson was in his playing days. Dickerson believes that Barkley’s success is partly due to his new surroundings with the Philadelphia Eagles, where the offensive line play is significantly better than it was during his time with the New York Giants.
The Eagles, who may be without quarterback Jalen Hurts on Sunday, are in a unique position when it comes to Barkley’s chase for the record. Despite their strong chances of securing the No. 2 seed in the NFC, they may opt to rest their starters, including Barkley, in Week 18. If this scenario plays out, Dickerson’s record may remain intact for another year.
