Michelle Yeoh Stars in Star Trek: Section 31, Paramount+’s First Original Movie

Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in Star Trek: Section 31, the first made-for-streaming Star Trek movie. The film is a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery, in which Georgiou, the former ruler of the Mirror Universe’s Terran Empire, joins Starfleet’s mysterious Section 31.

The project was initially planned as a TV series, with production scheduled to take place from May to November 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted production, and Yeoh’s availability also became a concern. Despite her winning the Academy Award for Best Actress, Yeoh used her newfound fame to push forward with the project, which is now a feature film.

Star Trek: Section 31 follows Yeoh’s character as she continues to work for Section 31, using her cunning and skill to navigate the complex web of intrigue and espionage. The movie is expected to explore new corners of the Star Trek universe and provide more depth to Yeoh’s iconic character.

The film is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and stars Michelle Yeoh. It will be released on January 15, 2025, on Paramount+. With a runtime of 96 minutes, fans can expect an exciting and thrilling ride as Yeoh brings Emperor Philippa Georgiou to the big screen for the first time.
