Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy shared his thoughts on the ongoing war with Russia during an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity on “Hannity.” Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukrainian forces have taken back 50% of the territory once held by Russian soldiers since the 2022 full-scale invasion.
Zelenskyy praised President Donald Trump’s rhetoric threatening Putin, saying it is “just and fair” and that it’s what Putin is afraid of. He believes that Trump’s support for Ukraine would make it a stronger nation, which would be a threat to Russia.
The Ukrainian president also highlighted the human cost of the war, citing that over 12,300 civilians, including over 650 children, have been killed since the conflict began. He emphasized that the only way to end the conflict is through international pressure, particularly from China, and “broader guarantees of security.”
Zelenskyy criticized the response of the United States under former President Joe Biden, stating that he asked for sanctions on Russia and weapons to be provided, but was told they would only be given if Russia invaded. He believes that the United States is key to putting pressure on Putin and ending the war.
According to Zelenskyy, if President Trump is willing to force Putin to come to a peace agreement, he can do so, and he hopes that any potential agreement is more than just a piece of paper. He concluded that he hopes Trump will be on the side of justice and support Ukraine.
