Meta, the social media giant, has named three new members to its board of directors, including Dana White, the CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship. White played a key role in the reelection of President-elect Donald Trump, a longtime friend of his.

White will be joining Charlie Songhurst, a tech investor, and John Elkann, CEO of Exor, a holding company that owns several automotive and other brands. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new appointments in a Facebook post, stating that the company’s board will help it achieve its vision for AI, wearables, and the future of social media.

White’s appointment is significant as it comes amid an apparent ideological shift to the right within Meta’s top ranks. White has stumped for Trump and praised him publicly, and the UFC CEO also used his connections to secure appearances for Trump on right-leaning podcasts.

In a statement, White expressed his excitement to be joining the Meta board, stating, “I love social media, and I’m excited to be a small part of the future of AI and emerging technologies.”
