A solemn and emotional procession was held in McAllen, Texas, yesterday to pay final respects to U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Malavega, who was killed in the line of duty on October 30. A crowd of hundreds gathered to witness the national honors bestowed upon Agent Malavega, who leaves behind a wife and three children.

The procession, led by a hearse carrying Malavega’s flag-draped coffin, made its way from the McAllen Funeral Home to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where a Mass was held to celebrate his life. The ceremony was attended by fellow border patrol agents, law enforcement officials, and community leaders, all of whom knew Malavega as a dedicated and compassionate public servant.

Family members and friends shared stories and memories of Malavega, describing him as a kind and generous person who always put others before himself. Agent Malavega’s brothers, fellow agents, and friends paid tribute to his unwavering commitment to his work, humor, and sense of adventure.

Following the Mass, the procession made its way to the Riverside Cemetery, where a memorial service took place. A 21-gun salute, played by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, marked the conclusion of the ceremony, as well as a flyover by the U.S. Border Patrol’s air wing.

Agent Malavega’s sacrifice will not be forgotten, as he has become the 34th U.S. Border Patrol agent to die in the line of duty since 2005. His service to the country will continue to be remembered and honored by the U.S. Border Patrol and the American people.
