Where’s the outrage? America is up in arms over everything else, from social justice issues to mainstream politics. But when it comes to the most critical issues, like personal safety, it seems to be business as usual.
That’s according to comic and TV host, Bert Kreischer, aka Tyrus, who recently took to social media to express his frustration over the devastating murder of a 40-year-old New Yorker, who was stabbed to death on a Brooklyn subway train last week. The victim, who has been identified as Dalonta Crudup, was attacked and killed in broad daylight, and authorities are still searching for the perpetrator.
Taking to Twitter, Tyrus wrote: “Where’s the outrage?… This is what’s going on in the world and NO ONE’s saying a word. People are getting MURDERED, and yet I hear crickets. I’m not asking for a candlelight vigil or a hashtag, just basic human decency and outrage. Are we just desensitized to violence because it’s happening everywhere?”
He went on to question why Americans are so quick to outrage over every little issue, but seem to be ignoring the much more pressing issue of personal safety. “Are we really more concerned about the microaggressions we perceive or the actual DANGEROUS situational awareness that’s happening around us? Because if that’s the case, we’re DOOMED,” he tweeted.
Tyrus is not the only one lamenting the lack of outrage over this heinous crime. Many others have taken to social media to express their shock and disgust, calling for greater action to be taken to keep communities safe.
