Tua Tagovailoa’s clutch throws secure Dolphins overtime victory over Jets.

The Miami Dolphins made a splash on Sunday afternoon, defeating the New York Jets 32-26 in overtime and keeping their playoff chances alive. Tua Tagovailoa threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jonnu Smith on the first drive of overtime to secure the win.

The game was a battle from start to finish, with the Dolphins’ De’Von Achane scoring the first points with a 2-yard run in the first quarter. The Jets’ Isaiah Davis replied with a 17-yard touchdown run, putting them up 10-9 at the end of the first half.

The Jets looked to be in control in the third quarter, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers throwing a 3-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams and kicker Anders Carlson hitting a 40-yard field goal. However, the Dolphins fought back, with Tagovailoa leading a 9-play, 60-yard drive that ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill. The 2-point conversion was also completed on a pass to Jaylen Waddle.

The game went into overtime, and it was the Dolphins who came out on top. Tagovailoa was 33-of-47 passing with 331 yards and two touchdown passes. Hill and Waddle also had big games, with 10 and 9 catches respectively, for 115 and 99 yards.

For the Jets, Rodgers went over 300 yards passing for the first time since December 12, 2021, while Adams had 9 catches for 109 yards along with a touchdown. However, it was the Dolphins who buried the Jets’ playoff chances, giving them their fourth win in their last five games.

The win puts the Dolphins in a good position to make the playoffs, needing to win at least three of their final four games to potentially secure a spot.
