TSA officers shocked by concerning discovery in LAX passenger’s carry-on.

A Woman’s Carry-On Bag Contains Almost 90 Prohibited Items, Stuns TSA

A woman flying from Los Angeles to Philadelphia was taken aback when a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer discovered a large quantity of forbidden items inside her carry-on bag. The items, which included 82 fireworks, three knives, two replica firearms, and a canister of pepper spray, were not allowed in carry-on luggage, according to TSA regulations.

The discovery was made during a routine X-ray screening at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday. The TSA officer was shocked by the sheer number of prohibited items and contacted the Los Angeles World Airports police, who responded and interviewed the passenger. The airport’s bomb squad also responded and confiscated the explosives.

Fireworks and other explosives are never allowed on an airplane, according to the TSA. Replica firearms and knives are permitted in checked baggage, but the pepper spray found in the woman’s bag was not allowed because it exceeded the 4-ounce container limit. Some airlines do not allow any kind of pepper spray, so travelers should check with their airline before traveling.

The TSA is urging all travelers to double-check the contents of their bags before coming to the airport. The “What Can I Bring?” feature in the MyTSA app and the @AskTSA social media channels are available to assist travelers with questions about what is allowed in checked or carry-on bags.
