The White House released Melania Trump’s new official portrait on Monday, showcasing the First Lady in a striking power pose. The black and white photo was taken by photographer Régine Mahaux on January 21, 2025, in the Yellow Oval Room. Trump is dressed in a dark-colored suit and crisp white shirt, with her hair down and wavy and her nails manicured.

The portrait has received praise online, with many noting that Trump “exudes power” and one user calling her “easily the most stunning First Lady in American history.” Others speculated that the First Lady was sending a strong message.

The new portrait is a departure from Trump’s 2017 official White House portrait, in which she is seen in a soft-focus color photo with her arms crossed and a soft smile. At the time, she was criticized for wearing a $3 million diamond ring given to her by her husband.

Trump has continued to make statements through her clothing choices, including turning heads with a bold hat on Inauguration Day. Ahead of the inauguration, the official portraits of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance were also released.
