President-elect Trump Posts Meme on Truth Social Featuring 2023 Mugshot and Time Magazine Cover
President-elect Trump took to his Truth Social account to post a humorous message, contrasting his 2023 mugshot with his Time magazine cover. The photo features his mugshot on the left side and his Time magazine cover on the right, with the accompanying caption: “How it started, how it’s going.”
The mugshot in question was taken in May 2023, when Trump was processed at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta after being indicted on election racketeering charges. In June, Trump faced an assassination attempt and won the first nonconsecutive U.S. presidential term since Grover Cleveland in the 19th century.
Trump was announced as Time’s Person of the Year for the second time just a day prior to posting the meme. He was awarded the honor on Thursday, with the magazine releasing a cover and an in-depth interview.
When accepting the award, Trump called it an “honor” and thanked the entire team at Time, praising their professionalism. This is not Trump’s first time being named Person of the Year; he was first awarded the title in 2016 after his first presidential victory.
