Trump slams Trudeau with new title as he upholds tariffs, ‘Great State of Canada’

President-elect Trump Took Jab at Canadian Prime Minister on Truth Social

President-elect Trump took another jab at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his Truth Social account, referring to Trudeau as “Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada.” The remark came after Trump and Trudeau met at Mar-a-Lago in Florida last week to discuss topics such as the economy, illegal immigration, and a proposed 25% tariff.

The meeting between Trump and Trudeau was described as “very productive” and the two leaders discussed a range of issues, including the economy, illegal immigration, and the proposed 25% tariff. During the meeting, Trump told Trudeau that if a tariff for failing to address trade and immigration issues would kill Canada’s economy, maybe it should become the 51st state.

The proposed 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican products has been a contentious issue, with Trump citing failures to stem the flow of illegal immigration and illicit drugs into the United States. Trump has previously threatened to impose the tariff, which would take effect on January 20th, the day after his inauguration.

In addition to the proposed tariff, Trump and Trudeau also discussed energy, trade, and the Arctic. Trump emphasized the importance of addressing the fentanyl and drug crisis, which he attributed mainly to the drug cartels and fentanyl pouring in from China. He also emphasized the need for fair trade deals that do not jeopardize American workers and the massive trade deficit the U.S. has with Canada.

Trump’s latest jab at Trudeau comes as he prepares to take office and implement his campaign promises, including his plan to renegotiate trade agreements and impose tariffs on countries that he believes have taken advantage of the United States.
