President Trump Sworn in for Second Term, Republicans Promise Sweeping Policy Changes
Republican lawmakers are ecstatic after President Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, vowing to quickly execute his ambitious policy agenda. In his inaugural address, Trump promised to “bring down costs, close the southern border, deport illegal immigrants, bring back free speech, and unleash American energy dominance.”
House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris praised Trump’s speech, stating, “The Golden Age of America begins today.” House GOP leaders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing Trump’s policies, with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer saying, “House Republicans are fully committed to making his America First vision a reality and are ready to hit the ground running on day one.”
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise hailed Trump’s address as “a powerful speech outlining his vision for an America that’s safe, strong, free, and full of opportunity.” Other lawmakers, such as Rep. Kevin Hern, compared Trump’s inauguration to Ronald Reagan’s, stating, “Like Reagan, who ushered in a renaissance of American greatness, President Trump’s inauguration marks the beginning of a new golden age in America.”
Lawmakers urged Congress to quickly work with Trump on a range of issues, including the Farm Bill, tax cuts, border security, and lowering costs for families and farmers. Trump himself reiterated several promises made during his speech, including a national energy emergency, revoking the electric vehicle mandate, and ending the Green New Deal.
Trump’s address was met with widespread applause and praise from lawmakers, who view his second term as an opportunity to make significant policy changes. The president plans to take swift action, signing executive orders on day one of his presidency, including over 200 measures to tackle record inflation, energy production, and national security.
