Trump Selects Team to Collaborate with US Treasury Nominee Scott Bessent



President-elect Trump Announces New Appointments to His Administration

President-elect Trump has announced a number of new appointments to his administration, including a team that will work with his nominee for U.S. Treasury, Scott Bessent.

Ken Kies, a 47-year tax lawyer, has been appointed as assistant secretary for tax policy. Kies has previously worked as chief of staff for the Joint Committee on Taxation and chief Republican tax counsel for the House Ways and Means Committee.

Alexandra Preate, a senior counsel to the secretary of the Treasury, has also been appointed. Trump described her as an “accomplished executive in public relations.”

Other appointments include:

* Hunter McMaster as director of policy planning
* Daniel Katz as chief of staff, who is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a Yale graduate
* Samantha Schwab as deputy chief of staff for the Treasury Department, who previously worked in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs during Trump’s first term

In addition to these appointments, Trump has also named several new ambassadors, including:

* Benjamin Leon James as the next U.S. ambassador to Spain, who is a successful entrepreneur, equestrian, and philanthropist
* Joe Popolo as the next U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands, who helped transform the Freeman Company into a leading live event brand experience company and has been named a winner of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award
* Cora Alvi as his deputy chief of staff, who most recently worked as national deputy finance director for Donald J. Trump for President Inc.

Trump praised his new appointees, saying they are “all incredible, hardworking Patriots who will work tirelessly to make America great again.”
