Trump Nominates Three New Ambassadors: Callista, Claver-Carone, and Howery

President-elect Trump Names Callista Gingrich as US Ambassador to Switzerland

President-elect Donald Trump has named Callista Gingrich, wife of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, as one of his latest US ambassador nominees. In a post on Truth Social, Trump cited her previous ambassadorial experience in his first administration, saying that she had served as Ambassador to the Holy See with distinction, working to advance and defend international religious freedom, combat human trafficking, and provide humanitarian assistance around the world.

Gingrich, who graduated with honors from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1988, will be required to be confirmed by the US Senate. Trump also announced the nominations of Mauricio Claver-Carone as a US special envoy for Latin America and Ken Howery as US ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark.

Claver-Carone, a president of the Inter-American Development Bank, will work to restore order in the US southern border, which Trump characterized as chaotic and anarchic. He praised Claver-Carone’s knowledge of the region and his ability to put America’s interests first.

Howery, a co-founder of PayPal, has previously served as US ambassador to Sweden and will bring his experience in American innovation and technology leadership to his new role. Trump commended Howery’s success in representing the US abroad and his commitment to national security and freedom throughout the world.

The three individuals, along with other ambassador nominees, will need to be confirmed by the US Senate before taking office.
