President-elect Trump Drops Latest Round of Nominations
President-elect Trump dropped his latest round of nominations on Saturday, including picks to help lead the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Transportation (DOT).
The first announcement came when Trump nominated Aaron Reitz to lead the DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy. Reitz is currently the chief of staff for Senator Ted Cruz and was previously the deputy attorney general in Texas, where he led successful lawsuits against the Biden administration.
Trump highlighted Reitz’s skills in his Truth Social post, stating that he would work closely with the president-elect’s pick for U.S. attorney general, Pam Bondi. “Aaron is a true MAGA attorney, a warrior for our Constitution, and will do an outstanding job at DOJ,” Trump wrote.
The president-elect also named Chad Mizelle as the next chief of staff at the DOJ. Mizelle previously served as the general counsel and chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, where he helped to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal drugs and aliens into the country.
In a third post, Trump nominated David Fink to head the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Fink is a “fifth-generation railroader” with over 45 years of transportation leadership and success, according to Trump.
Later on Saturday, Trump announced that he was nominating Tilman J. Fertitta, the owner of the Houston Rockets, to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy. Fertitta has a long history of philanthropy, including supporting children’s charities, law enforcement, and the medical community.
