President-elect Trump Nominates Harmeet Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Harmeet K. Dhillon to be the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice. Trump praised Dhillon’s commitment to protecting civil liberties, citing her efforts to defend free speech rights, her representation of Christians during the COVID-19 pandemic, and her lawsuits against corporations that used woke policies to discriminate against employees.
Dhillon is a top election lawyer in the country, having clerked in the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and graduated from Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School. Trump noted her strong connection to the Sikh religious community, stating that in her new role, she will be a “tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY.”
In another announcement, Trump named Mark Paoletta as General Counsel of the Office of Management and Budget. Paoletta will work closely with the Department of Government Efficiency to cut government bureaucracy and reduce wasteful spending. Trump praised Paoletta as a “brilliant and tenacious” lawyer, who had worked to advance his agenda and was instrumental in securing funding for a wall on the southern border.
Finally, Trump announced that KC Crosbie is running to become the next co-chair of the Republican National Committee to replace Lara Trump. Trump praised Crosbie for his work in electing “real” Republicans and his efforts to make the RNC a lean, efficient, and powerful organization that would continue to empower the MAGA movement. Trump expressed his full endorsement of Crosbie’s candidacy, stating that he would work to ensure a highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and effective RNC that prioritizes election integrity.
