President-elect Trump has tapped Brooke Rollins as his agriculture secretary, according to a statement released on Saturday. Trump praised Rollins’ “commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns.”
Rollins is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Development and a J.D. with honors. She has a deep background in agriculture, growing up on a farm in Glen Rose, Texas, and has been involved in various agricultural organizations, including the Future Farmers of America and 4H. Her family has a generational farming background, and she has guided her four children in their show cattle careers.
As the next Secretary of Agriculture, Rollins will lead the effort to protect American farmers, who are “truly the backbone of our Country.” Trump congratulated her on her new role.
Rollins has a long history of leadership experience, including serving as director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council during the first Trump administration. After leaving the White House, she co-founded the America First Policy Institute think tank, a pro-Trump organization.
If confirmed by the Senate, Rollins would lead a 100,000-person agency with a budget of $437.2 billion in 2024. The agency manages farm and nutrition, forestry, food safety, rural development, agricultural research, and more.
