Trump chooses pardoned real estate developer Charles Kushner as ambassador to France.

President-elect Donald Trump Hints at Naming Charles Kushner as Ambassador to France

President-elect Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to announce that he wants real estate developer Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, to serve as the next Ambassador to France. Trump praised Charles Kushner as “a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker” and made the announcement in a post on Saturday.

Charles Kushner is the founder of Kushner Companies, a real estate firm, and has a Checkered past. In 2005, he was sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion and witness tampering. Prosecutors alleged that after finding out his brother-in-law was cooperating with federal authorities, he orchestrated a scheme of revenge and intimidation.

This scheme included hiring a prostitute to lure his brother-in-law to a New Jersey motel room, arranging a recorded encounter and sending the tape to his sister-in-law, the brother’s wife. Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 counts and was sentenced to the maximum two years in prison.

Trump and Charles Kushner have a known relationship, having met through real estate circles and their children, Jared and Ivanka, being married in 2009. This unexpected nomination has raised questions about Trump’s judgment and loyalty to his family ties.
