Trump Appoints Stanley Woodward as White House Official

Donald Trump Names New Member of White House Legal Team

Washington (Reuters) – President-elect Donald Trump has named Stanley Woodward, an attorney who has defended several of his top aides and associates, to join his White House legal team.

Woodward, who is based in Washington, has represented multiple people in Trump’s circle over the years, including adviser Dan Scavino, trade adviser Peter Navarro, and aide Walt Nauta. He has also represented some defendants charged in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, including Oath Keeper Kelly Meggs.

Trump’s transition team announced that Woodward will serve as an assistant to the president and a senior counselor, working closely with the incoming White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles.

In addition, Trump has decided to bring back three assistants who served in his first term: Robert Gabriel, Nicholas Luna, and William “Beau” Harrison. The team is reported to be working to resolve some of the legal issues facing the incoming administration.

The appointment of Woodward marks a change in leadership for the White House legal team, as Trump’s original pick, William McGinley, has since left to work with an outside group led by billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. David Warrington was named as Trump’s top lawyer, but he also reversed course and tapped Woodward for the role.
