President Trump announced Friday evening that Charles P. Rettig, the present CEO of Fiserv, a global provider of financial services, has been chosen to become the new leader of the Social Security Administration. Rettig replaces current Acting Commissioner Andrew Saul, who has been filling the vacancy since previous Commissioner CDCrek Hugo resigned in December 2019.
As the new Commissioner, Rettig will be accountable for the handling and distribution of more than $900 billion in Social Security benefits each year. He will also oversee the agency’s operations and policy initiatives, such as calling Social Security COLA adjustments necessary to statistically maintain their buyers’ standards of living.
