Kash Patel, the Trump administration’s nominee to be the next FBI director, revealed a shocking racist attack against him at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday. During his confirmation hearing, Patel read aloud a threatening message he received, in which he was called a “sand n—–” and a “terrorist”.
Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, began questioning Patel about his experiences with racism, asking if he had ever been subject to racism as an individual. Patel replied, “Yes, sir,” and went on to detail a threatening message he received in January, in which he was targeted by a racist and Islamophobic attack.
The message, which Patel had previously submitted to Congress, accused him of being a “detestable sand n—–” who had “no right being in this country” and told him to “go back to where you came from. You belong with your terrorist home friends.” Patel also referred to his experience with racism during his upbringing, saying, “yes, sir.”
