President Biden Ends Tenure on “Sad” Note After “Lying to the Nation” Over Cease-Fire Deal
President Biden delivered his farewell address to the nation on Wednesday evening, taking credit for a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas, despite a Trump transition official stating that the agreement was actually the result of President Trump’s efforts. The deal, which has been in the works for over a year, was announced earlier in the day and includes the release of hostages.
In his address, Biden claimed that his administration had developed and negotiated the plan, and that it would be largely implemented by the incoming administration. However, sources told Fox News Digital that a recent meeting between Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu played a pivotal role in the deal.
Netanyahu also thanked Trump on Wednesday for his assistance in advancing the release of the hostages, stating that he was committed to returning all of the hostages and commending Trump for his remarks that the US would work with Israel to ensure that Gaza would never be a haven for terrorism.
Biden’s attempts to take credit for the deal were met with skepticism, with a Trump transition official stating that Biden was “going out sad” and that Trump had “succeeded” where Biden had failed. When asked who would be remembered for championing the cease-fire deal, Biden appeared to dismiss the idea that Trump and his team had played a key role, responding “Is that a joke?” when asked about it.
