Jason Kelce Steps Away from Football After 2023 Season
Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman, has stepped away from football after the 2023 season. Kelce spent his entire 12-year career with the Eagles, including a standout performance in the team’s run to the NFC championship.
The Eagles are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, a rematch of their 2023 matchup in Super Bowl LVII. Kelce’s younger brother, Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Chiefs, was recently named to his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl.
In his first year of retirement, Jason Kelce has taken up broadcasting, signing with ESPN and making appearances on “Monday Night Countdown” throughout the 2024 season. He has also announced a new show, “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce,” which will debut in January 2025 and feature appearances by NFL players and personalities.
During a recent episode of his show, Jason Kelce was joined by his brother Travis, who appeared to show support for the Philadelphia Eagles, saying “Go Birds, baby!” However, Jason quickly pointed out that his brother was being insincere, and Travis eventually doubled down on his Eagles support.
The Eagles have had a tumultuous season, starting 10-1 before finishing with just one win in their final six games. They went on to lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round, and Jason Kelce announced his retirement shortly after the team’s playoff exit.
Super Bowl LIX will be streamed on Tubi, and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 9 from the Caesars Superdome.
