Timbaland Explains Apparent Antisemitic Drake Taunt
Timbaland has addressed the recent controversy surrounding his apparent diss track aimed at Drake, which many interpreted as being antisemitic. The producer, known for his work with Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake, took to social media to clear up the situation.
According to Timbaland, his lyrics were meant to be a playful jab at Drake, not a serious attack on the Jewish community. “I apologize if my recent lyrics came across as offensive or insensitive,” he wrote. “My intention was never to disrespect or degrade any individual or group of people.”
Timbaland went on to explain that he and Drake have been friends for years and that his lyrics were simply a playful attempt to get under the rapper’s skin. “We’ve been homies for a minute, and I know he’s a stand-up guy,” he said. “So, when I saw him getting too big for his britches, I decided to take a shot.”
The producer also took the opportunity to speak out against antisemitism, stating that he believes it’s important for everyone to be aware of the impact their words can have. “We all need to be more mindful of the language we use and the impact it can have on others,” he wrote. “We should all strive to be kind and respectful to one another, regardless of our differences.”
