Zach Ertz, 34, Reflects on Season with Washington Commanders, Eyes Return to Field
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz is eager to return to the field for his 13th NFL season, fueled by his passion for the game and a successful 2024 campaign with the team. After playing his first 17-game season in 2024, Ertz is looking to build on his momentum and hopes to do so with the Commanders.
Ertz had a standout season with Washington, recording NFC title game highs of 11 receptions and 104 receiving yards. He also reconnected with former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, who is now the offensive coordinator with the Commanders. Ertz’s performance was a significant factor in the team’s 12-5 record and playoff berth.
Although Ertz has expressed his desire to return to the Commanders, the decision ultimately rests with the team. “It’s a two-way street,” Ertz said. “I can bang down the door saying I want to be here, but if they don’t want me here, then it’s a moot point.”
After a successful season, Ertz is looking forward to some rest and rejuvenation before preparing for the next campaign. He believes that with continued hard work, he can improve and turn in an even more impressive season.
“I still feel like at this age I can get better,” Ertz said, emphasizing his dedication to the game. With his passion and motivation, Ertz is poised to make another strong impact on the field.
