Tiger Woods sends message of support to Los Angeles amid raging wildfires.

Golf Icon Tiger Woods Speaks Out on Devastating LA Wildfires

Golf legend and Southern California native Tiger Woods has spoken out about the devastating wildfires sweeping through the Los Angeles region, which has killed at least 25 people and destroyed numerous homes.

Born in Cypress, California, which is just 45 miles from Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood, Woods’ statement expressing support for those affected by the disaster was released Tuesday.

“The devastation that is ongoing with the LA fires is such a tragedy and being from California, it hits home,” Woods said. “My heart is with those who have suffered unimaginable loss. Thank you to the incredible heroes that are the first responders helping to contain and save the community of Los Angeles.”

Woods, a 15-time major winner, also pledged to provide an update on his personal charitable efforts to help those affected by the fires, stating “We plan to provide an update on our own charitable efforts to help these communities in the coming weeks. Stay strong LA!”

The 2022 PGA Championship winner’s comments come as firefighters and first responders continue to battle the Palisades and Eaton fires, which have been burning for days. The death toll has risen to 25, with at least eight people dying in the Palisades fire and 17 in the Eaton fire, and 35 individuals remain unaccounted for.

With strong winds in the region expected to bring an elevated fire threat, forecasters have issued a Red Flag Warning, urging residents to stay aware of their surroundings, be prepared to evacuate, and avoid anything that could spark a fire.
