The thrilling combination of Josh Allen and Amari Cooper hints at a promising partnership.

Everybody Eats: Amari Cooper’s Quietly Productive Debut with the Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have adopted the mantra “Everybody Eats,” and for good reason. The entire team is contributing to the offense, including wide receiver Amari Cooper, who has quietly put together a productive start to his tenure with the team.

Despite being hampered by a wrist injury, Cooper has still managed to rack up 136 receiving yards and a touchdown in his first four games with the Bills. While his production hasn’t been impressive, his chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen is starting to show signs of life.

A clever play against the 49ers highlighted the duo’s connection, as Allen threw a touchdown pass to Cooper, who hauled it in with one hand. But at the instant play was stopped, Allen was waiting for the ball, and Cooper tossed it to him, allowing Allen to score. It was an improvised hook and ladder play that left Allen praising Cooper’s instincts.

Cooper’s slow start is attributed to his wrist injury and the difficulties of learning the playbook mid-season. However, his numbers are not cause for concern, as the Bills’ offense is designed to be adaptable and use multiple weapons.

In his first four games, Cooper has averaged 2.1 yards of separation per target, with a receiving EPA of 3.6. He also has 47 reception yards over expected, according to Next Gen Stats. His catch rate is 76.9%, 19.6% over expected.

While Cooper may not be the focal point of the Bills’ offense, he is content with his role as part of a close-knit group of players who support each other. As he continues to adjust to his new surroundings, Cooper’s production is expected to increase, and his chemistry with Allen will be a key factor in the Bills’ success.
