Hill Finds Himself in Unfamiliar Territory After Disappointing Season
Miami Dolphins’ star wide receiver Tyreek Hill has faced numerous challenges throughout his nine-year NFL career, but none more so than his recent disappointing season. For the first time in his career, Hill failed to make the playoffs, and he also missed out on a Pro Bowl bid and a third consecutive All-Pro selection.
In 2024, Hill’s numbers took a significant dip, as he recorded 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns. This was a far cry from his previous three-year streak of 100-plus catches and four-year run of 1,000-plus yards. His average yards per reception also fell to 11.8, the lowest total since 2021 and his rookie season.
To make matters worse, Hill struggled with a wrist injury that required surgery, but he opted to forego the procedure. He also struggled to find his rhythm on the field, particularly on routes outside of short-range throws from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa, himself, missed several games due to injury, further exacerbating the team’s difficulties.
Despite their 8-9 record, the Dolphins still had an outside chance at the AFC’s No. 7 seed going into their final game, but ultimately lost and finished outside the postseason. Following the disappointing season, Hill declared, “I’m out,” sparking shockwaves throughout the league.
However, in the aftermath of the season, Hill met with his teammates and agents to discuss his future, suggesting that he may have calmed down from his initial outburst. As he and the Dolphins look ahead to the 2024 season, his future will be closely monitored, as will the team’s attempts to get back on track.
