The New York Jets plan to interview Mike Vrabel for their vacant head coaching position.

Vrabel Spent Six Seasons with Tennessee Titans

Mike Vrabel spent six seasons as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach, accumulating a 54-45 record before being let go following a 6-11 season in 2023. This year, the 49-year-old served as a coaching and personnel consultant for the Cleveland team. His contract expired this week, allowing him to interview for coaching positions prior to the end of the season.

As a three-time Super Bowl champion player with the New England Patriots, Vrabel earned NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2021. His teams at the Titans frequently surpassed expectations due to his ability to coax victories out of inferior rosters, demonstrating a tendency to play above their talent level.

During his tenure with the Titans, Vrabel made three playoff appearances, including a 2019 AFC title game appearance against Kansas City. Noted for being a no-nonsense coach, Vrabel has the qualities and experience needed to revitalize a team struggling to find consistent success, such as the Jets. His reputation precedes him, making him an extremely sought-after candidate in the coaching cycle and a top choice due to his previous experience.

Prior to his anticipated interviews, the Jets interviewed Ron Rivera for the open coaching position.
