Einstein Was Back To The Future’s First Time Traveler, Not Doc & Marty

Ad

While Doc Brown and Marty McFly may be the stars of the Back to the Future franchise, they weren’t the world’s first time travelers. In fact, it was Doc’s dog, Einstein, who got to ride the DeLorean first.

In the first film, Doc tests the time-traveling DeLorean by sending his dog, Einstein, one minute into the future. This makes Einstein the world’s first time traveler by default. This detail is often overlooked, and it’s fitting that a dog named after Albert Einstein would be the first to travel through time.

Einstein’s adventures in the DeLorean aren’t limited to the first film. He also joins Doc on a trip to 1885 in the third installment, and is later reunited with the family in a heartwarming scene at the end of the trilogy.

Einstein’s character may have been played by different dogs in each film, but his significance to the franchise is undeniable. He’s a reminder of the power and excitement of time travel, and the adventures that await us all.
