Markiplier, a popular YouTube gamer and director, is set to bring the indie horror game Iron Lung to the big screen. The film, set to star Markiplier himself, Caroline Kaplan, Elle LaMont, and Seán McLoughlin, is expected to be a thrilling adaptation of the 2022 game, which takes place in a one-room submarine on a desolate moon.
The game’s story unfolds after a catastrophic event known as "The Quiet Rapture," where all habitable planets vanish, and a convict is sent to search for resources in a rusty submarine called "Iron Lung" on a moon filled with human blood. The mission is crucial to preserving human life and existence, but the convict uncovers hidden secrets and encounters a mysterious sea creature, which affects the outcome of the mission.
Markiplier has been providing updates to his massive YouTube following, announcing that the film will use more fake blood than any horror film in history, with a record-breaking 50,000 US gallons used during filming. He himself even had to visit the hospital after getting his eyes inflamed from being "too deep in the blood." The film’s production was briefly delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but Markiplier’s determination to bring this horror film to life remains unwavering.
While the plot is expected to closely resemble the game’s, it’s hard to imagine the film adhering to the same single-location structure. Markiplier has promised that the film will be a thrilling experience, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
