For over two decades, Mineral Wells has hosted the “Wonderland of Lights,” a spectacle that attracts tens of thousands of visitors from across the country.
The event has become a staple of the small town’s charm, with more than 4 million lights, 100 life-sized animated animals, and over 300 holiday displays lining the 1.5-mile route of its scenic train tour. Each year, new and improved lights are added, ensuring that visitors have a magical experience.

During the event, attendees can also enjoy a hot chocolate bar, cookie decorating station, and letters to Santa letters from the jolly old man himself. Admission is free, with a donation to the Mineral Wells Parks and Recreation Department in lieu of ticket fees.
Despite its modest size, Mineral Wells’ Wonderland of Lights has achieved an impressive recognition. In 2018, the event received the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Texas Treasure Award for outstanding contributions to tourism.
