Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers announced on Wednesday that he will forgo his final two years of eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL draft.

Ewers shared a heartfelt message on social media, thanking the coaches and teammates who aided him in his success at Texas. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play in his home state and at the university, stating, “My entire life I have dreamed about playing football on the 40 acres. These past three years have been some of the best years I could have imagined. The relationships I’ve built between coaches and teammates will last forever.”

Ewers had recently been the subject of rumors surrounding his potential decision to enter the transfer portal, with a reported $6 million offer to play elsewhere next season. However, it appears that he has decided to pursue the NFL draft instead.

In his 2024 season, Ewers compiled 3,472 passing yards and 31 touchdown passes, leading the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals where they ultimately fell to Ohio State.

While there is no certainty as to where he will be selected in the draft, Ewers’ decision to enter the draft has sparked interest among scouts and analysts, with several top prospects, including Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, expected to vie for top quarterback honors.
