A plane crashed at an intersection in Fort Worth, Texas, causing significant damage but no reports of fatalities, authorities said.
The crash occurred just before 4:30pm on Tuesday at the intersection of West Green Oaks Boulevard and Overlook Drive in the city’s westside.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, emergency responders were called to the scene after a report of a plane in distress.
When officers arrived, they found the single-engine Cessna aircraft had suffered significant damage but was vacant. The plane’s tail section was detached and there was debris scattered across the intersection.
“I’m thankful to report that there are no reported fatalities,” said Fort Worth Police Chief Ned Hancock. “We do have some concerns about potential injuries, and we are working to confirm that at this time.”
The plane’s pilot was not injured, but it is believed that the aircraft was occupied at the time of the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and is expected to conduct an investigation into the incident.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities do not believe foul play is involved.
As the investigation continues, it is clear that the safety of everyone involved is a top priority.
