A Texas Mother Lying Outside with Her Two Children in Freezing Temperatures Charged with Child Endangerment

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 6:40 am on Tuesday about a woman lying on a sidewalk with her 1-year-old and 2-month-old children in the 12062 Veterans Memorial Drive area of Houston. The area was experiencing historic snowfall, with temperatures reported at 28 degrees and snow accumulating on the ground.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman and her children, both of whom were showing signs of cold-related injuries and were immediately provided medical aid. The mother showed signs of intoxication, and authorities have charged her with child endangerment.
Local news outlets reported that the woman allegedly took a nap on the ground and an open alcoholic beverage was found near her. The incident highlights the dangers of drinking and parenting, and the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of children.
The Houston area saw significant snowfall on Monday night, with reports of two to four inches of accumulation in some areas and five inches in others. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, leaving hazardous road conditions in its wake.
