Texas leads nation in population growth according to new statistics released by the United States Census Bureau. During the past decade, the state’s population rose by 3.4%, surpassing neighboring California and leading the nation.
From 2020 to 2021 alone, Texas accounted for nearly a third of the country’s entire population growth. The state has been experiencing exponential growth, making it the fifth most populous in the country behind California, Florida, New York, and Illinois.
The increased population growth has been attributed largely to the surge in migration. Many people, particularly young and educated individuals, are drawn to Texas due to its strong job market, excellent quality of education, and friendly business environment. The state capital, Austin, has been highlighted as one of the fastest growing cities in the country, fueled by the high-tech industry in the area.
The influx of new residents brings with it potential economic benefits such as increased economic output, labor force growth, and higher average incomes. While some areas do face challenges and strain on city services, most experts agree that the growth rate is manageable.
