Texas Escapes Arizona State in Thrilling Double OT Win

Arizona State Gave Texas a Scare in the Peach Bowl, But the Longhorns Held On to Win 39-31 in Overtime

Texas gave up more than they ever wanted to to Arizona State in the Peach Bowl, but the Longhorns’ defense made a crucial stop in the final seconds to escape with a 39-31 victory. The game went to two overtime periods before Andrew Mukuba, a Texas defensive back, hauled in a goal-line interception to secure the win.

Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo was the star of the game, rushing for 143 yards with two touchdowns and adding 99 yards receiving. But Quinn Ewers, the Texas quarterback, was nearly equally impressive, throwing for 322 yards with three touchdowns and helping his team win the game with a successful two-point conversion in the second overtime.

The win marked a big relief for Texas, which entered the game as a 13.5-point favorite but found themselves facing the possibility of one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Instead, the Longhorns will advance to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of the Rose Bowl matchup between Oregon and Ohio State.
