Houston Texans Wide Receiver Tank Dell Out for Season with Torn ACL, Dislocated Knee
Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced on Monday that wide receiver Tank Dell is out for the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated knee, torn ACL, and other damage during Saturday’s 27-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dell sustained the injuries while catching a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Stroud in the third quarter. He remained down clutching his left knee after the play, with replays showing his leg appearing to bend in an awkward direction as he was pinned under teammate Jared Wayne.
The incident left his teammates visibly shaken, with many in tears, including close friend and quarterback Stroud, who appeared particularly distraught.
Emergency medical personnel attended to Dell on the field, and he was taken off the field on a cart with his injured leg in a vacuum splint before being transported to a local hospital. Dell returned to Houston on Sunday and will undergo surgery “soon”, according to Ryans.
The Texans have a quick turnaround, facing the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.
