The Houston Texans’ 2024 season was marked by inconsistency on both sides of the ball. Despite adding Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon to their roster, the team struggled to find consistency, finishing 22nd in total yards per game, 21st in passing, 19th in scoring, and 15th in rushing.
Quarterback Davis Stroud’s performance suffered due to the inconsistent play of the offensive line, which allowed him to be sacked 52 times, the second most in the NFL. Stroud’s lack of trust in the line led to indecisiveness and mental mistakes, resulting in a decrease in his completion percentage, passing yards, and passer rating, as well as an increase in interceptions.
The Texans’ offense relied heavily on their defense to win games, but ultimately, the team’s overall performance was not good enough to achieve their goals. As a result, head coach DeMeco Ryans parted ways with offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and OL coach George Strausser.
The team is now focusing on hiring a new offensive coordinator and OL coach, with the hope of revamping their offense and returning to their potent form. The search for these coaches is crucial to the Texans’ long-term success.
