Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed that wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a dislocated kneecap and tore his ACL during Sunday’s loss to Kansas City. Ryans also announced that Collins will undergo surgery and is out for the season. In addition, defensive back Jimmie Ward will undergo foot surgery and is also out for the year.
Ryans emphasized the importance of the team moving forward, despite the tough news. “You have to,” he said. “It’s easy to sit in and let it still hurt. It’ll always be there with us.” Ryans acknowledged that losing key players hurts, but noted that the team must find ways to move forward. “You have to have other guys step up, and we have to move forward. Our next teammate, they don’t care.”
The team will look to regroup ahead of their upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday.
